SUMMER PIANO INSTITUTE:
June 16 - 21, 2008
UIUC Faculty: Timothy Ehlen, William Heiles, and Ian Hobson* join with Guest Artists: Richard and John Contiguglia* and James Tocco*.
The University of Illinois School of Music proudly announces the second annual SUMMER PIANO INSTITUTE! With a faculty of outstanding artist-teachers, and the opportunity to enjoy a high-level learning experience in master classes and private lessons, the “SPI” is ideal for students and teachers alike. In addition, each faculty artist will perform a solo recital, and participants deemed ready for public performance will be featured in a Gala Concert.
The SPI takes place on the historic UIUC campus, located in Champaign and Urbana, Illinois. With the facilities of Smith Memorial Hall and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts, and the School of Music Building, plus the incomparable Music Library, all enrollees in the 2008 SPI will have the advantage of using excellent pianos for practice and performance, and enjoy concerts in one of the nation’s premier concert venues.

ILLINOIS CONDUCTOR'S WORKSHOP:
June 29 - July 3, 2008
Conductors will work with member of the University of Illinois Symphony Orchestra. Enrollment is available for participants (required video audition and guaranteed podium time) or auditors.
This workshop is available for academic or continuing education credit. You will study standard orchestral repertoire, including IMEA All-State pieces. Come learn to be a better conductor, one who brings out the best of the repertoire and the players. Workshop is designed for aspiring and experienced conductors of professional, youth/honors, and secondary school ensembles.
