Teaching Philosophy

My teaching and mentoring philosophy centers on providing a model of an active, engaged professional educator for both undergraduate and graduate students in music education. I strive to exemplify preparation, organization, and currency with the research and general literature of the field. I think that it is critical that teachers of music education in Research I universities like the University of Illinois demonstrate these characteristics through publishing papers in refereed journals and engaging in leadership activities in the profession.
